Version history
| Version | Date | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Muse Spark | April 8, 2026 | MSL’s first flagship |
| Muse Spark 1.1 | July 2026 | Meta’s first paid developer API |

Pricing strategy
When Meta opened its Model API in July 2026, it priced Muse Spark at $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens, which Meta said was roughly a quarter of comparable rivals. New accounts received free credits. The API was launched as a public preview.
Closed, unlike Llama
Unlike Meta’s earlier Llama releases, Muse Spark is closed: you can use it through Meta’s apps and API but can’t download its weights. Meta still releases some open-weights models, such as the 30-billion-parameter Muse Glimmer (August 2026).
