- Defensive cybersecurity
- Output of up to 1 million tokens per response
Best for
- Early evaluation by approved partners
- Defensive cybersecurity work
Gemini 4 Argon is the first model of Google’s Gemini 4 generation. Google announced it on September 30, 2026, the day after the White House SI Accord signing, as its most capable model for complex reasoning, multi-step software engineering and defensive cybersecurity.
Availability: limited preview
Argon is not generally available. Google released it first to trusted testers and vetted cyber-defenders in its Fairwind program, which echoes how OpenAI staged GPT-6 Astra’s cyber-capable rollout. Paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers are next in line, then the public. As of October 7, 2026, Argon does not appear on Google’s public API pricing page, so we list its price as not yet public.
What’s new
- Up to 1 million output tokens in a single response, versus 64,000 for previous Gemini models and about 128,000 for most rivals. That suits generating entire codebases or very long documents.
- Google claims it leads GPT-6 Astra and Claude Opus 5.5 on a majority of benchmarks it reported. Independent verification will have to wait for wider access. See benchmarks.
Gemini lineup today
For production use now, Google’s generally available model is Gemini 3.8 Flash. Gemini 3.1 Pro remains in preview.
Compare: Gemini 4 Argon vs GPT-6 Astra.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Gemini 4 Argon?
Not yet, unless you're in Google's Fairwind trusted-tester program. Google says paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers come next, then everyone else, without giving dates.
How much will Gemini 4 Argon cost?
Google has not published general API pricing on its official pricing page as of October 7, 2026. One outlet (Online Tech Tips) reports introductory API prices of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, but we have not been able to confirm that from Google. We'll add verified prices when they appear.
